Menopause Support Group
Menopause is the physiological cessation of menstrual cycles associated with advancing age. It normally occurs in women between the ages of 45 and 55, when the body begins to slow and stop the production of eggs, estrogen and progesterone production decreases, and menstruation diminishes, eventually stopping altogether.
eleveated fsh happens when estrogen is low. in perimenopause your estrogen levels are fluctuating from day to day and minute to minute, so an fsh is not going to tell you a thing. even an fsh with lh blood test is not going to be very usefull.
if you are 40 years old more, and if you are having perimenopause symptoms, and you are otherwise healthy and can not attribute the symptoms to any illness, then trust your own body to have been telling you that you are in perimenopause.
mine also started in my late 30s, but at that age it is more commonly thryroid issues than perimenopause. have you been to a doctor at all? it might be thyroid but if not, then you are likely in perimenopause.
your hair loss, night sweats etc could be peri but it could also be thyroid so it's good you had the bloodwork done.
usually the first sign of peri is a change in your cycle, since you have had a change now it is likely you are in peri.
