Menopause Support Group
Menopause is the physiological cessation of menstrual cycles associated with advancing age. It normally occurs in women between the ages of 45 and 55, when the body begins to slow and stop the production of eggs, estrogen and progesterone production decreases, and menstruation diminishes, eventually stopping altogether.
Lonely Lisa
Women who are going through this change of life, really understand in a way that others simply cannot. I think the isolation and loneliness erode my sanity as much as any hormonal changes. Also, thinking that I cannot talk to others, as opening up might lead to some form of judgement or being trodden on by well-meaning but ignorant comments, this has often resulted in my choice to curl-up and withdraw from others. I feel totally lost at times. I feel like I'm dying. In a way, this is the death of my first half of life and moving toward a second half of life. The most difficult thing I experience is not feeling safe in my mind anymore. And the lack of sleep. I take sage and have observed an improvement with regard to waking up with intense heat, hyperventilating and heart palpitations. I feel so guilty and really down on myself when I reflect on the impact on my husband and daughter. They both reassure me that they love me and I tell them how much I love them too, but I feel despair particularly about how my behaviour and lack of energy is effecting my daughter. I've spoken with clarity ( in an age appropriate way ) with her about her mama going through a changing time and reassured her about these difficulties. She and I are very close and I cherish our bond deeply. As one "up-down"to another all I can say right now is, keep sharing with those who empathise and be self-protective- when necessary -with those who are unable to listen. I suppose as I listen to my own post here I remind myself to go very gently and take everything one day at a time. I hope this is helpful. Keep hope in your heart.
Thanks for the inspiration and feeling like there is a group that i do belong to and can associate with.
