Until now changes in my menstral cycle is one of the only symptoms that I haven't had. This is the third day of my period and it has stopped. It was very light the first two days, which is unusual. I am going to do the FSH test tonight when I get home from work. I hope the FSH is elevated above norm so that I can be sure that all of the symptoms that I have been having since March are peri-menopause related. Hope everyone is well today.

the test is not going to tell you anything you don't already know.
a constant high fsh (meaning repeated tests) means post menopause.... but then so does going a year without a period.

since you are still having periods you are not post menopause, but perimenopause. the test is not going to tell you how much longer you have to go till menopause.

my periods used to be 7 days, then 6, then 5 then 4, now 3. I used to have to use super plus tampax, then super, then regular, and now light days...

I don't need a test to tell me why, and no test is going to tell me how many more years I'll be going along with 2 or 3 day periods.

I just wanted for my own info to see if my FSH levels are high which would indicate peri-menopause (not post) I know that I have not gone through menopause yet. Also, I know that the test will not tell how long until I go thru menopause. Just wanted a little reinforcement that I am in peri-meno. I read online about the test and if you take it on the third, fourth, and fifth day of your cycle and the levels are still elevated, you are peri-menopausal. Anyway, some of us who are new with all of this just have a need to know that we aren't going nuts but that there is a reason for the way we feel.

I think I would do the test as well sdwill... even tho all your symtoms point to perimeno, I'm 52 and only found out it was perimeno when I hit this site .. being only 38 would certainly have me confused, I would never have guessed it could be the meno ... like you say you just want verification, even if it isn't high, if your mams around ask her what age she was when she went thro meno ...will give you a guide.. and no your not going nuts hun far from it ...

My mom was 35. I have just never been a depressed or anxious person until now. I don't buy the dr explanation that stress just finally got to me. My gyn thinks I am peri-meno also.
