Menopause Support Group
Menopause is the physiological cessation of menstrual cycles associated with advancing age. It normally occurs in women between the ages of 45 and 55, when the body begins to slow and stop the production of eggs, estrogen and progesterone production decreases, and menstruation diminishes, eventually stopping altogether.
What exactly is the message your getting. I also have a digital blood pressure machine and when my pvc's kick in while I'm doing it, I will get an "ERROR" message. Not every time but a lot of the times. Then I have to wait until my heart calms down and do it again.
Maybe that's what's happening to you. Getting more anxious over it doesn't help, needless to say. I've had pvc's for 12yrs now and they are completely harmless unless you have an underlying heart problem. My cardiologist said that if she put a holter monitor on everyone at least 1 would be detected.
You should probably call the doctor just to be sure or maybe the pharmacist. They know more about the meds than the doctors do anyway.
Glad to see your going through all this and getting it taken care of. Hang in there, your almost done ! ! !
Good Luck, Donna
PVCs are pre-ventricular contractions. It's when one of your heartbeats comes sooner than it's supposed to. Feels like your skipping a beat but your really not, it's just that one of them is coming sooner than it should but the next one is coming on time so you feel like a pause or break in between beats. Sometimes mine will do this for a bit before it stops.
I'm thinking that this is what's happening with you but not knowing for sure you should get it checked out . Better to be safe. Are your readings coming out ok when you don't get the error message?
Donna
Let me know what he says. I'm sure your fine. It probably just picked up a pvc like mine does.
Forgot to mention that at least with mine, if you don't pump it up enough I will also get that message. Maybe it was just something as simple as that.
Good Luck (((((hugs))))) Donna
Mitral valve prolapse (MVP) occurs when the valve between your heart's left upper chamber (left atrium) and the left lower chamber (left ventricle) doesn't close properly. When the left ventricle contracts, the valve's flaps bulge (prolapse) upward or back into the atrium. Mitral (MIE-truhl) valve prolapse sometimes leads to blood leaking backward into the left atrium, a condition called mitral valve regurgitation.
In most people, mitral valve prolapse isn't life-threatening and doesn't require treatment or changes in lifestyle. Some people with mitral valve prolapse, however, require treatment.
Hope this helps. Good Luck tomorrow. Donna
I was told by her that everyone has these (pvc's) but not everyone feels them. Of course I've got to be one of the lucky ones that can feel it and they are DEFINITELY worse when I ovulate and 7 to 3 days before a period because of the hormones getting ready to change again.
If your that concerned, the best thing to do is get a holter monitor. Don't worry, it's nothing to be afraid of. It's like having an ekg hooked to you for 24hrs and picks up everything your heart does. Anytime you have a bowel movement, sex, angry, upset, laughing etc... you just log it on this paper they give you so they know why your heart rate may have been higher for that moment. No meds required or anything like that. Suggest it to the doctor and see what he says. You may also want to take the machine with you and have it calibrated to make sure it's on track with the doctor's.
Please let me know how you make out. Also, your not bothering me at all. I'm routing for you ! ! ! I know you'll pull through this and have a wonderful life. Now YOU have to believe that.
Donna
I am so reluctant to take meds myself. It seems like everything I take messes with my heart. (makes it beat very fast) Or I get dizzy, lightheaded, shaky etc... and I think, what will happen to my children if something happens to me? Very scary feeling.
I know you are probably doing the best you can under your circumstances but I really believe that if you just push yourself a little harder to get past this anxiety, you WILL do it ! ! !
You should be very proud of yourself for getting this far because I know you didn't think you could.
I'll be watching for your "after doctor" post.
Take Care, Donna
Hope your doing ok.
