Menopause Support Group
Menopause is the physiological cessation of menstrual cycles associated with advancing age. It normally occurs in women between the ages of 45 and 55, when the body begins to slow and stop the production of eggs, estrogen and progesterone production decreases, and menstruation diminishes, eventually stopping altogether.

I think every one is very different and it's all horrible no matter how you live through it. What a nightmare, how come know one told us!!
Sometimes you will think they are gone and that's what I call "vacation." then they come back and you'll have them for weeks or months, etc.
Everytime I think I'm getting better, they come back and ruin my life again. I have all sorts of hot flashes.
Some last a minute to 4 minutes with soaking wet underarms afterward, some come at night when I change the nightgown 3 times or more, some come on when I am upset, I am burning up. Some come on when something scares me.
I know a woman 71 who still gets them. I know another 79 who gets them although they don't come as often as they used to, they still get them.
I even know my mother had them into her 80's and now she's freezing all the time.
