My GP was the one who first prescribed me some medicine. It was 10mg of Lexapro. Then after this last bout she did suggest I see a psychiatrist for meds. Lexapro went up to 20mg and Xanax to help me out until the increased dose kicked in. Then Xanax as needed. I have never had any negative side effects from the Lexapro. Hi LIsa thanks so much for your help. The anxiety has started to creep up on me lately so I thought perhaps I should make the doctor's appointment and see what he says. I will email you tomorrow and let you know how I get on. Thanks again my friend.

I've been off and on 60 mgs of Prozac for years and it hardly helps the anxiety (it helps my obsessive thoughts--ocd, that's why I still take it, otherwise I wouldn't bother). What helps me is Stress J. It's an herbal supplement made by Nature's Sunshine. They have capsules or a tincture. I like the tincture the best. You put 15 to 30 drops in a glass of water and drink it. The first time I tried it, I was almost nonfunctioning because of my anxiety. Within minutes, the panic was gone. I have had anxiety for 25 years and nothing has ever helped me like this. It doesn't leave you sedated or drowsy either. It's really worth a shot instead of having to take prescription meds.

Hi thanks for your comments Dana, I saw the doctor this morning and he prescribed a low dose of xanax for a couple of weeks, then I have to go back to see him and possible discuss other meds.

Dana... the Stress J do you put it in a full glass of water? Do you take it every 4 hours? I looked it up on line and I may be interested. It looks safe as it is recommended for children as well.

Hi Lisa I think the xanax is helping me, it certainly seemed to calm me down today before the meeting I had at Glen's care home. I took the medication about an hour before the meeting started.

Xanax works for me. It takes the edge off and helps me to relax. If you are having mood swings Cymbalta works wonders. Hope this helps.

I am on klonopin and xanax for mine! I usually only use xanax as a back up, but lots of stress and anxiety going on lately so been using a bit more than usal. I hope the xanax works well for you, most docs will NOT give xanax out to anybody! Glad yours did!
