Menopause Support Group
Menopause is the physiological cessation of menstrual cycles associated with advancing age. It normally occurs in women between the ages of 45 and 55, when the body begins to slow and stop the production of eggs, estrogen and progesterone production decreases, and menstruation diminishes, eventually stopping altogether.
I use KY liquid or jelly. It really helps. As far as hot flashes nothing works better than good old estrogen if you can take it and are not adverse to it. None of that black cohosh or GNC remedy worked for me. Summer time is worse, I am already getting more night sweats but all during the day, I have very few
I use a patch. It has its own unique matrix called Vivelle Dot and this is the only thing that works for me. Also, 10mg provera every three months to bleed because the estrogen thickens the uterus and that could be trouble if you have irregular bleeding after the menopause right away, doctors will do a D/C to biopsy the lining. I went through this 2 times and it was horrible. Believe me, I have been through hell and some women? well, they don't know what a hot flash is. Good for them. It's a major change in a woman's life and not to be taken lightly.
I have the memory loss but I think that's just aging for me. I also had weight gain. It was impossible to lose and I still have an extra 3 pounds but learned to live with it. I joined the gym. It is so discouraging when you see all this stuff happening.
As far as brittle hair, I had my hair breaking off and falling out because I bleach it blonde but found a good hairdresser and there is a product called "Sojourn." You can find it online. No stores sell it and now it is amazing how healthy my hair has become. You might want to look that up too.
I use the blue bottles, it's the moisture line. It's the best stuff in the world. My hair, I thought was hopeless.
