Menopause is the physiological cessation of menstrual cycles associated with advancing age. It normally occurs in women between the ages of 45 and 55, when the body begins to slow and stop the production of eggs, estrogen and progesterone production decreases, and menstruation diminishes, eventually stopping altogether.
Women who drink occasionally may live longer.
A recent study published in the American Journal of Hypertension that followed more than 112,000 post-menopausal women for an average of eight years determined that white women who consumed up to seven drinks a week had a 19 percent lower risk of dying from any cause compared to women who abstained. When it came to African American women, the impact was far smaller. Black women who drank in moderation were 6 percent less likely to die compared to teetotalers.
The protective effect of moderate drinking was far more pronounced in women with high blood pressure. White women with hypertension were almost 40 percent less likely to die compared to abstainers. And black hypertensive drinkers were more than 25 percent less likely to die than their abstaining counterparts.

All my docs (except my dentist) believe drinking is no good and do not do it themselves.

2) I'm married to a recovering alcoholic (16 plus years sober).
