Menopause Support Group
Menopause is the physiological cessation of menstrual cycles associated with advancing age. It normally occurs in women between the ages of 45 and 55, when the body begins to slow and stop the production of eggs, estrogen and progesterone production decreases, and menstruation diminishes, eventually stopping altogether.
Don't think FSH/cancer is related at all. But I am not a doctor.
Try meditation in the mornings or yoga to calm your body down. Anxiety can be a symptom of hormonal imbalance.
You are not alone. I wish you well. Good luck with your doctor and keep up posted on what you are doing to feel better.
Well, guess what - I continued throughout the rest of this year having a period every single month like clock-work! The only time I went for an extended time without one was from June to July when I was going through a very stressful time and lost a lot of weight because I could hardly eat at all.
I know this doesn't really answer your question. I just wanted to share my experience to point out that these levels apparently swing quite wildly. I was never retested and I am not very happy with my doctor. I have been having symptoms of menopause.
I have night sweats and depression due to the hormone change. I believe that most of the symptoms subside after your body has stopped bleeding for one year (then is when they consider it menopause).
I told one of the nurses one day that I was menopausal and she bluntly said "oh, so you have gone a year without a period?" I said "No, I am infertile and my FSH lvl is high, but I am going through the change." She says "then you are perimenopausal and not menopausal."
She was quite snotty about it and I was not in a good mood so she was quite lucky I didn't reach across the counter at her! LOL I am sure the look on my face was priceless...I never use the "c" word and I barely kept from it that day. I was bleeding heavily and cramping like a madwoman. I just hope she has more tact with others.
