Meniere's disease is a balance disorder of the inner ear. The symptoms of Meniere's are variable; not all sufferers experience the same symptoms. However, "classic Meniere's" is considered to comprise the following four symptoms: Periodic episodes of rotary vertigo, hearing loss, tinnitus, and a sensation of fullness or pressure in one or both ears.

Having recently been diagnosed with Menier's and having read some posts on positive results of taking Valtrex, I thought I'd start an unofficial poll and gauge the results:

Have you taken Valtrex for Menier's Disease?

How has Valtrex worked for you?

What was your dosage and duration?

I took Valrex for Meniers. So far I have been symptom free for 6 months. I took Valtrex for 10 days. I do maintain with L-lysine.

Kelly, you only took the Valtrex for 10 days and the symptoms have been gone for 6 months? So, Valtrex is not something that you have to take continually? I've been taking the L-lysine along with several other supplements, and although my symptoms have definitely lessened in severity, I still have tinnitus and feel pressure and have hearing loss. Thanks for the info, and thanks, tim, for the interesting "unofficial poll".

I started taking L-Lysine and the 'full feeling' in my ear subsided a lot.

I will be asking my doc about Valtrex, but since I have CFS, I have to wait until after my husband's surgeries since I don't react to drugs well.

I was at my ENT for a checkup last month and forgot to ask him about the viral thing.

*smacks own head*
