Meniere's disease is a balance disorder of the inner ear. The symptoms of Meniere's are variable; not all sufferers experience the same symptoms. However, "classic Meniere's" is considered to comprise the following four symptoms: Periodic episodes of rotary vertigo, hearing loss, tinnitus, and a sensation of fullness or pressure in one or both ears.

unbalance feeling!

Good morning! I have an unbalance feeling while standing in one place lately. Is it apart of MD? thanks a million.

Yes, Some days are like that. Those are the days I sit down to teach. There could be many reasons for it. See if you have changed your diet, stress level, sleep.... or maybe it is the weather pattern. Hope it just stays a feeling and doesn't accelerate into something more.

YES IT IS PART OF MD, I FEEL OFF EVERY DAY SOME DAYS BETTER THEN OTHERS, HANG IN THERE ,HUGS ,SHIRLEY

Yes, unfortunately it has become my "normal." I feel off-balance any time I'm walking or standing. Of course, my balance IS damaged on one side due to gentamicin injections several years ago. I have the off-balance feeling all the time whether I'm having a Meniere's episode or not.

Unfortunately, the destructive part of MD is to the fine hairs in the inner ear that effect both hearing and balance. (the are neighbors in the inner ear, both have a different kind of fluid in them, the fine hairs send messages to the brain). In many cases of MD as your hearing goes your balance will suffer too. If you only have the condition in one ear then the other side will eventually compensate for it to a degree. If your results are not satisfactory you may need to ask your Dr to set you up with a Physical therapist who specializes in vestibular balance issues. They will give you exercises to help retrain you brain. You may however always have some balance issues, watch out for night driving and peripheral vision issues too.

My husband goes through this feeling everyday. I find that it gets worse when he is in the stores. Because the lighting is different it causes him to get real dizzy and also standing still for a short period of time also causes this. I told the doctor about this and she told me that it was normal for this to happen because of the disease. I have also seen this happen when there is a change in the weather as well.

Yes, it is. Sometimes I can just be standing there and it feels as though I have been pushed. Be careful while walking or driving.

thank you all for sharing and thinking about Upper cervical care treatment next. i went back to work last week after two months medical leaves. Unfotunately! i unable to sleep at night due to anxiety attack and did not want to go to the doctor to get more drug instead i am trying sleep assist tea, 5 mg melatonin, excercise to burn out a nervous energy and meditation.
