Meniere's Disease Support Group
Meniere's disease is a balance disorder of the inner ear. The symptoms of Meniere's are variable; not all sufferers experience the same symptoms. However, "classic Meniere's" is considered to comprise the following four symptoms: Periodic episodes of rotary vertigo, hearing loss, tinnitus, and a sensation of fullness or pressure in one or both ears.
My MD story goes back five years ago when I suddenly had a veritigo attack. For the next three and a half years I suffered occasional attacks while trying to figure out what on earth was going on with me. Doctors were no help and I got dozens of opinions and suggestions. Finally I happened across an article on MD in my personal research and started implementing the Hydrop's diet. About 9 months ago I got an appointment with an ENT, who was very supprised and told me I was the first person in his twenty years of practice to correctly diagnose myself with MD. He was pretty encouraging. Typically I've been having 3-5 attacks per year, but this year seems worse, I've already had 5 at the time of this post. Really I just thought I'd find a group of people who know what I'm going through and just spout all of this out. My family, friends and boss are understanding as far as "he has a condition", but don't really know how to sympathize with what I go through.
Actually I feel lucky now knowing I've been diagnosed after one year... And my ENT thaught about MD even before so he gave me the pills that make my attacks little bit easier.
