Meniere's Disease Support Group
Meniere's disease is a balance disorder of the inner ear. The symptoms of Meniere's are variable; not all sufferers experience the same symptoms. However, "classic Meniere's" is considered to comprise the following four symptoms: Periodic episodes of rotary vertigo, hearing loss, tinnitus, and a sensation of fullness or pressure in one or both ears.
When I got home after surgery I rested the rest of the day I Think( I really don't remember the rest of the day) lol. The top of my ear was numb and is still numb 3 months later, there is a nerve the is cut during the surgery but it will grow back. My ear hurt seems like for 2 or three days, I had to sleep on half of a pillow and let the worked on ear hang out in no mans land for a couple of days. The vertigo got worse I guess because of the swelling but it finally went back to the normal vertigo for me anyway.
I wish you the best of luck and a speedy recovery !!!
God's blessings on your surgery tomorrow and a successful recovery for you!
When I woke I couldn't hear a thing in the opo' ear and had loud cracking and banging noises going on..these have gone now as the fluid and blood drain away and hearing has come back. The first week is tough but after that you are on the mend. I was dizzy for days straight after but not spinning so it was managable. The pain and numbness do ease fairly quickly(4-5 days) although my ear is only now feeling how it used to (6 weeks later)
Don't blow your nose for a week after if poss.
I had trouble with my stiches but when they came out I felt better instantly and could shower properly.
I still haven't had a vertigo attack since the op but feel a bit "off" some days but no drop attacks is a result so far.
Good luck
Leslie
