Meniere's disease is a balance disorder of the inner ear. The symptoms of Meniere's are variable; not all sufferers experience the same symptoms. However, "classic Meniere's" is considered to comprise the following four symptoms: Periodic episodes of rotary vertigo, hearing loss, tinnitus, and a sensation of fullness or pressure in one or both ears.
Yes, soft music does help. And for me nothing sounds stupid with regard to MD. I'll let you know what the ENT has to say on Thursday.

Different level pitches coming and going, cracking, nail gun thwacks, pulsating, and of course, the constant high scream... lots of variety.
I do have a water fountain in my house because I like the sound of running water. I think my mind hears that and shuts out some of the others, sometimes. But every little bit helps. I do notice the worse my sleep, the louder and varied are the sounds.

Tinnitus can be a tricky things, are you following salt restricted diet? My condition gets loud in relation to salt intake.
