Meniere's Disease Support Group
Meniere's disease is a balance disorder of the inner ear. The symptoms of Meniere's are variable; not all sufferers experience the same symptoms. However, "classic Meniere's" is considered to comprise the following four symptoms: Periodic episodes of rotary vertigo, hearing loss, tinnitus, and a sensation of fullness or pressure in one or both ears.
I kind of disappeared for awhile. We moved from Rhode Island to Florida. The stress of the move definitely played havoc with my bad ear. Fortunately we are all moved in and stress level is getting better. My oldest came home from football camp and shared his cold with me. Ugh it sucks my ear hurts and is causing vertigo. Any one have any good suggestions. I'm also looking for a Meniere's specialist down here. So far no luck but I'm going to check University of Florida Gainsville med center which is only an hour away. Hope everyone is well!!!

Below are some name and places with excellent care, Dr. Silverstein in Sarasota and Venice is probably one of the best in the country, he is all the way down to Sarasota which is quite a drive if you are near Gainsville. Good luck, I was in Fla for 20 years, lots of great care because of the aging population.

Somebody should warn you that the first cold you have when you move to Florida is the worst because you aren't immune to the local germs. I don't know what area you are in but I am near Orlando. My ENT is John Huhn who diagnosed me very quickly a long time ago. I still see him.The neurotologist is Dr James Adkins. His office is in Celebration by Disney. His does all the dizzy people in central Florida and is excellent. I couldn't see him for a while because he didn't take my insurance but even when I went as a self pay he did not charge me much. He is on my insurance now so as soon as this baby gets born and I get my new FMLA I am going out to him. His office may be able to direct you to someone closer. Otherwise google neurotologists. Most of the docs here are good.
