Meniere's disease is a balance disorder of the inner ear. The symptoms of Meniere's are variable; not all sufferers experience the same symptoms. However, "classic Meniere's" is considered to comprise the following four symptoms: Periodic episodes of rotary vertigo, hearing loss, tinnitus, and a sensation of fullness or pressure in one or both ears.
Hi All, I was in to see my Ear Dr. yesterday. I had a small tube placed in my ear in Sept 2012.( a myringotomy tube) The tube is for placing steroidal drops in my inner ear.
I have had monthly drops put in without much change in symptoms. He is now saying the updated treatment is to have the drops put in more frequently such as weekly, or every two weeks. He said that in Toronto (I am in Canada) that they were putting the steroidal drops in every day for one month and getting good results. I know that the day of the treatment and the day after I feel more woozy and off balance)

The dizzyness is part of the treatment, mainly because you now have extra fluid in your inner ear chamber. This should clear up in a day or two once the steroidal drop absorbs into the inner ear. This whole treatment is based on the theory that Meniere's is an autoimmune condition. This has not been proven to be a fact in all cases. Also ask the doctor what kind steroid he is using, if it is Gentamicin then there maybe some side effects your doctor should have talked to you about. There is a ototoxicity componate to Gentamicin treatment. This would explain your symptoms also.
