Meniere's Disease Support Group
Meniere's disease is a balance disorder of the inner ear. The symptoms of Meniere's are variable; not all sufferers experience the same symptoms. However, "classic Meniere's" is considered to comprise the following four symptoms: Periodic episodes of rotary vertigo, hearing loss, tinnitus, and a sensation of fullness or pressure in one or both ears.
I've had Meniere's disease for almost 5 years now. I have no formal background in health or medicine but both are passionate interests of mine.
The blog came about when several months ago, I decided that I wanted to start writing and help people in some way. When I sat down to brainstorm what to write about, it dawned on me that I have been able to manage my Meniere's disease incredibly well over the years, and the more I thought about it, the more I realized I had so many ideas to share that could help others.
When I was diagnosed I was terrified and there was so much conflicting information when I started researching it. I felt so hopeless. When I started writing, I decided that everything I wrote would be from a place of hope and inspiration.
I love to learn, and on a daily basis I read all kinds of books (sometimes for several hours), I watch and listen to interesting podcasts, TED talks, interviews, and documentaries. I've been exposed to so many interesting ideas that have unintentionally helped my Meniere's disease and I know can help so many others as well.
Thanks again SueHutch! I have all kinds of exciting articles and things in the pipeline that I'm excited to share with everyone!
