Depending one your doctor and how long you have had this condition, you maybe nearing the end of the non surgical options. Olliedog, did you just have one injection? Most doctors do a series of three. Mine were about three days apart. Don't give up hope! I had the series five years ago and it did absolutely nothing. After that I had the gentamicin injections which destroyed my balance--big mistake, but I was desperate. I changed to a much better doctor and have had numerous treatments, including two surgeries and professional vestibular rehab. Last month I had the steroid injections again--and this time it's unbelievable how much it has helped! I just went on vacation for the first time in five years! I feel nearly normal again--but I DO realize that it could just be a remission; I've had that once before and it only lasted a couple months. I agree with Rich that you should speak with your doctor about the treatment plan he/she has in mind for you. I admit I'm biased, but I would never agree to a gentamicin injection. It did what it was supposed to do--destroyed the damaged balance--but my good side never compensated as it was supposed to do. You're also taking a chance on losing more hearing. It's a destructive procedure and there are other options out there that are less destructive. The sac decompression surgery is probably the safest, most helpful treatment for most people. It was not a big deal for me during recuperation, and it really did help with the severity of my episodes.

good morning and thank you for reply. i had a 1st steroid injection with a series of two. There are five shots in five 5 minutes interval each appointment. i had another vertigo episode last night while washing dishes in the kitchen and try to see the ENT this morning to go over the treament plan. The ENT nurse said that i should take Meclizine 25 mg for vertigo and Ondansetron 8 mg for nausea as they prescibed. There is nothing they can do for a random episode because is a apart of MD remission; thanks a million. Thuong

Ollie....HOPE has been the word for me today...and I want to share that HOPE is what you need to hang onto. To me hope means "things are not always going to be this way". One day at a time sometimes is actually one minute at a time. Keep hoping, keep searching. Sorry that you are going through this.
