Meniere's disease is a balance disorder of the inner ear. The symptoms of Meniere's are variable; not all sufferers experience the same symptoms. However, "classic Meniere's" is considered to comprise the following four symptoms: Periodic episodes of rotary vertigo, hearing loss, tinnitus, and a sensation of fullness or pressure in one or both ears.
Hi - I'm brand new here and was wondering if anyone else has encountered a problem I have.
I have a horrible reaction to valium so my doctor prescribed others meds to help me sleep. Sometimes these medications work but most of the time they have the opposite effect. It's like I am on speed. I am awake for days on end; so tired but not able to sleep. Has anyone else experienced this?
Has anyone else had a reaction to Valium and been prescribed something else that does work?

Personally, if Valium was doing that to me i would ask for something else to try. There are plenty of other drugs in that class that might work and not have that effect. Xanax, Clozapam to name a couple. But be careful with those. Before learning my daily dizziness was being caused by Vestibular migraines and not by my menier's, I wound up becoming dependent on Valium so i could function.
Topamax has helped to bring my vertigo and daily dizziness under control and I was able to wean off of the Valium and only use it as rescue now. But now when I take it, I pay for it. It's like I go through withdrawal all over again. So I feel like I lost the only true rescue drug I felt ever worked.
Thanks so much for your reply. Unfortunately, I have tried Topamax and it was horrible. It was almost as bad as Depakote for the hallucinations and suicidal thoughts. I was not able to function with either one of these.
I hope you find something that works for you. I have the dizziness/vertigo everyday as well and need to find something to get me through it too. Best of Luck to you.
