Hello all. I am wondering if anybody else has noticed a correlation between Meniere's and a certain type of pollen in the air. I know it is a wind-borne pollenator and it is also not studied scientifically (for political reasons), but I am finding a lot of anecdotal chatter online that suggests a lot of people have nasty allergic reactions to it when their neighbors start growing it.

Just before I started having Meniere's symptoms (which started with symptoms that resembled an ear infection), my state legalized growing pot for "medical" reasons. My neighbor was one of those people who started growing it. In the years since, I have had at least one or two neighbors growing it just over the fence or somewhere on my block. I noticed last year that two adjacent neighbors had a particularly large crop and, at the same time, my Meniere's flared up and I ended up struggling with vertigo and almost losing my hearing entirely.

This year I did not have a Meniere's flare-up, but both of my neighbors have started buying from the legal dispensaries, so they are not growing anything in my neighborhood (and I don't smell it like I did last year). But then I went and did work at my mom's house, where two neighbors are growing it right next to her, and I started having the same symptoms as last year. I also noticed that it is the same time of year as last year (I keep a journal of symptoms to try to spot possible sources of causation) down to the week.

I'm not here to be political about this, but I feel like it is irresponsible to legalize cultivation of an invasive species without first running scientific studies (not funded by pro-grow political organizations) that take neighbors' allergies into consideration. "But I wanna mar-I-wanna" is not good enough. Especially if allergic reactions can be so severe as to cause vertigo and permanent hearing loss. If anybody else has noticed this kind of pattern (especially this time of year, when it is apparently pollenating) I would like to hear about it.
