Meniere's Disease Support Group
Meniere's disease is a balance disorder of the inner ear. The symptoms of Meniere's are variable; not all sufferers experience the same symptoms. However, "classic Meniere's" is considered to comprise the following four symptoms: Periodic episodes of rotary vertigo, hearing loss, tinnitus, and a sensation of fullness or pressure in one or both ears.
I have had 24/7 vertigo for about a year, accompanied by "brown outs" the last 6 months. Because I have a menginioma, and heart disease, our first step was an EEG & MRI, then a 24/7 heart monitor for 2 weeks. Thanks be to God, all were normal (well, the same as they were, nothing new).
Neurologist thinks basis the vertigo & balance, it is most likely Meniere's. I do NoT have tinnititus (sp?), and I think my hearing is fine. I do have an autoimmune disorder, Lynch Syndrome II, which is genetic & hereditary. It increases 8 different kinds of cancer chances up to 80% of the regular population.
I've read the posts here (am on another Daily Strength Group) and it doesn't sound as if everyone has all the symptoms, or even the same ones.
I'm scheduled for a hearing test with the ENT (who I adored). Neurologist already took me off salt, added Vitamin C, and took me of my Parkinson's med. Told me to go off my antidepresant with that doc.
Any things I need to know or that could help? Thanks so much. All the posts helped.

You have a lot of things happening at once. I hope you find some answers soon.

Just went off the sodium -- which is in EVERYTHING -- he says to try 1500 mg a day, if I can reach that. I did some checking to make sure the vertigo is not related to my Lynch Syndrome MSH2, but so far does not show up.
I cannot do valium, or lorezapam -- so not sure what we'd do medicinally, if anything. Just hate waiting. Can deal with whatever I have to (have a great supportive husband & friends), but NOT knowing what we're dealing with and where we're going with it is uncomfortable for control-freak me. I do know it is filtered through His loving hands.
