Meniere's Disease Support Group
Meniere's disease is a balance disorder of the inner ear. The symptoms of Meniere's are variable; not all sufferers experience the same symptoms. However, "classic Meniere's" is considered to comprise the following four symptoms: Periodic episodes of rotary vertigo, hearing loss, tinnitus, and a sensation of fullness or pressure in one or both ears.
I do have the constant so called ringing in my ears. I thought it was just tinnitus. But then my equilibrium began to be unbalanced. I once was visiting my folks when I couldn't stand. I was outside and crawled onto their cement, under the parking area. It was winter and I nearly froze. My folks came out concerned. My Ma wanted to call an ambulance. I said no.... My dad brought out a pillow and blanket. I was there HOURS. That was the worst ever. Everything was spinning.
I've had episodes while driving. Where I've had to pull over. Never bad or very long. Just quick short episodes.
I am fanatical about cleaning my ears. Several times a day I use swabs. I rince my ears each week.
The tinnitus is still a constant. The feeling of being unbalanced has Not happened in about a year.
My equilibrium used to go haywire a few times a week. Sometimes more than once a day.
Don't ask me if the constant cleaning helps. I don't know..... but for me, maybe I'm doing something right.
My tinnitus is not ringing. But like very loud White noise on a television set. I wish I could get that to stop too.
1. Which symptoms did the UCC alleviate?
2. How many treatments did you have before you had relief?
3. How often do you have to have further treatment?
4. Did you have any history of long-term complete remission (months, years) prior to the treatment?
5. What are the risks of this treatment?
I have heard of this treatment but it is not something I'm going to jump into without a lot more research. I don't like the idea of anybody messing with my neck and I don't trust chiropractors to begin with. Not ruling it out completely, but not something I'm going to jump into, either.
Long story short, try the cervical collar (about $10 at my local drug store). If it works, that's definitely an avenue to follow.
