Meniere's disease is a balance disorder of the inner ear. The symptoms of Meniere's are variable; not all sufferers experience the same symptoms. However, "classic Meniere's" is considered to comprise the following four symptoms: Periodic episodes of rotary vertigo, hearing loss, tinnitus, and a sensation of fullness or pressure in one or both ears.

Myringotomy

Has anyone had myringotomy surgery where a small tube is placed in the inner ear and then have steroids injected through the tube into the inner ear? If so has it worked or not worked?

Well they put a tube onto my ear drum and injected steroids through it so it can efficiently get through. But it takes 5 minutes to put the tube on the ear drum and injections take about a minute each to do but then requires you to rest for about 30 minutes on your side while the fluid drowns into your inner ear. The shots have worked great for me and has stopped my attacks thus far since Feb 2012. I would recommend them to see how you react to the shots. If you have a positive reaction then you may need to have a dose every few months which you can do at home once you have the tube in your ear. Just an FYI- No more dunking your head under water in the pool once the tube is in place.

I have had that done, but it was not a surgary procedure. My Otologist
gave me an intratympanic injection into my ear and then insered a tiny tube (the kind my kids had done for recurrent ear infections). The results I had from these procedures was amazing. Within 2 days, I was almost symptom-free and I had just been recovering from a very acute attack of MD.
