Meniere's Disease Support Group

Meniere's disease is a balance disorder of the inner ear. The symptoms of Meniere's are variable; not all sufferers experience the same symptoms. However, "classic Meniere's" is considered to comprise the following four symptoms: Periodic episodes of rotary vertigo, hearing loss, tinnitus, and a sensation of fullness or pressure in one or both ears.

it is Monsoon season here in Arizona and I have been getting so many episodes it is getting hard to keep track of how many I had. The pain/pressure in my ear is so severe it brings me to tears. I got hit with a bad migraine this time along with the oh so familiar vertigo.

Does any one else have the same ear pain/pressure when I storm comes through? I kept telling my coworkers that we have a storm coming through because I can feel it in my ears. Sure enough we got hit with a storm.

Has any one found anything that helps with the pain and pressure?

I've been reading posts that barimetric pressure effects episodes of Meniere's. I haven't had that happen myself. We don't get much change in barimetric pressure in the San Joaquin Valley where I live in CA! Dry as a bone. Keep reading all the posts/blogs in the support group and you'll probably find someone who has similar experiences and what to do. Good luck! Stay strong.

Yes, I can tell when a front is coming through by the pressure in my ears. Sometimes it's like a needle stabbing inside my ear. One good thing about this is the front usually moves through within 24 hours, so the symptoms will change. I make sure I drink lots of water and eat very low sodium when I get this pressure. Anything that helps your overall circulation might relieve some of the pressure. Hope this helps.

I live in Arizona and feel your pain. I get the ear and head pressure a couple of days before the storm hits. I hate being a human barometer. It is especially bad because I always loved rainy day. I found it very peaceful and serene. Now I am so sick that I am miserable and hate the rainy season. I purchased a facial steamer MyPureMist from Target and started using it 2-3 times a day to releave the pressure. I think it is helping. Only down side it that it is about $150.

I have had very good luck with a valve or tube inserted into the problem ear. It seems to equalize the pressure.
