Meniere's disease is a balance disorder of the inner ear. The symptoms of Meniere's are variable; not all sufferers experience the same symptoms. However, "classic Meniere's" is considered to comprise the following four symptoms: Periodic episodes of rotary vertigo, hearing loss, tinnitus, and a sensation of fullness or pressure in one or both ears.
Has anyone tried this? And was it good or a bad procedure?

The procedure was so successful, that I was almost symptom-free by the next day.

I think that you are referring to the steriod injection into your ear. I had one done and unfortunately it did not do me any good. Doctor prefer starting with this injection over the gent. because of the long term affects with gent. but gent injections proves to be more affected then the steriod injection as it does not create long term affects and can restore some hearing sometimes. Everyone finds different things that help them and this may help you.
My doctor advised against the gent. injection b/c it can cause permanent balance issues as it kills the vestibular nerve. I am one that has bilateral menieres and I have already lost all my hearign in a short period of time. My doctor told me since i already lost all useable hearing that surgery is the best approach for me and implanting my ear with cochlear implants. I will have the second surgery on October 31. And with this surgery yes there is temporary balance issues where gent. it is permanent.
I don't mean to scare you but there are risks to any procedure. I would sit down with your doctor and look at all the pros and cons with each treatment. That is what I did. Some of us are so desparate to get relief fromt he vertigo, myself included, but one needs to weight the pros and cons and also take risks. I am hoping that I get relief after this surgery. I did the steroid injection and so far so good it has worked for me where I do not have attacks anymore. I also looked into chiropractic neck adjustments which also helped out a lot in keeping my neck straight and allowing my nerves to free up a little. You have to try a combination of things when dealing with Menieres and for the most part a life style change in eating habits, taking your vitamins in nutrients that your body currently lacks, steroid shots, and stress management. Stress of all places effects the inner ear as much as it does with the heart etc. Look into getting the shots.
Did those of you that had it done get more then one injection?
And yes this procedure (what I have read) is an injection through a tube in the ear adn done outpatient.
It can be done with the steroids or gent.
I have a specialist appointment coming up in December, I was thinking about asking him about this procedure. This is why I thought I would get educted by you all about it first. The steroid seems to be the lesser of the 2 from what I have read. The Gent has more hearing loss. And the procedured can be repated if neccessary. Just having one of those times where i am since of being dizzy and the ringing, sometimes I thing just gut the ear so I don't have to but up with it. I am sure we all have had those thoughts....
