Meniere's Disease Support Group

Meniere's disease is a balance disorder of the inner ear. The symptoms of Meniere's are variable; not all sufferers experience the same symptoms. However, "classic Meniere's" is considered to comprise the following four symptoms: Periodic episodes of rotary vertigo, hearing loss, tinnitus, and a sensation of fullness or pressure in one or both ears.

I was so nervous about the operation but so far so good! I feel like I have lost all hearing in my right ear and just hear tinnitus and popping sounds. The doc said it could last a couple of weeks. I'm just glad the big bandage is off so I can sleep better. So for now I watch and wait to see if the surgery can control vertigo symptoms. My husband starts deploying this summer and the goal is to have my symptoms under control so he can be gone and not worry about my health!
Thanks to everyone on this site! You guys are great it's nice to know you are not the only one in the world with this disease!

pleased it went well Leslie..Its a rocky road for a few weeks.
Have faith and good luck.
Don't panic on the hearing mine took 10 days at least to even start coming back..I have found openning my mouth wide as if I'm yawning helps it pop and clear..although you won't be able to open wide just yet with the pain.

Wessley thanks for reminding me it's not a straight line but a roller coaster. After feeling pretty good about my recovery I became unbalanced and started throwing up. It was a major let down! Tomorrow is another day and hopefully a better day!!!
RIch did you have surgery last week? If you did I hope it went well!
Thanks for the support. My friends for the most part don't understand and sometimes it's just too big of a pain to explain, ya know!

I was feeling pretty rough after the first week of surgery, in fact my Vertigo was about 2 times as bad for about 3 weeks. It all calmed down after the swelling went down. I went back to the same Vertigo I started with but it was worth a shot.

Man vertigo thank u for your reply. It's giving me a little hope what I'm experiencing isn't permanent. I'm just getting really depressed and it sucks!
