Meniere's Disease Support Group

Meniere's disease is a balance disorder of the inner ear. The symptoms of Meniere's are variable; not all sufferers experience the same symptoms. However, "classic Meniere's" is considered to comprise the following four symptoms: Periodic episodes of rotary vertigo, hearing loss, tinnitus, and a sensation of fullness or pressure in one or both ears.

Hi, I was diagnosed with Meniere's but often wonder whether that is what it really is. I don't have the typical dizziness when the room spins. I just feel a little unbalanced and occassional a little like I am on a boat. For years (probably at least 10) I have been complaining of a tightness in my forehead, no pain, just a tight feeling on top of my nose, lower forehead. I have often wondered if it may be related to my sinuses. I have also been diagnosed with another MD disease, Myotonic Dystrophy, a form of muscular dystrophy which has been confirmed. Anyone have any imput.? I do live in the Silver Spring, MD area if you know of any good ENT's. I originally went to someone who did specialize in dizziness.

Yep I dont get full spin either but tightness n forhead face and top of nose but I do have sinus problems and have had full surgery for itbut still not purfect I get off balance feeling like im goin to fall lightheaded dizzy where the ground is moving I also get a lot of vision blurryness so hope thats helps yeah I to go theew maybe my ent is wrong I think it wishin in our head though

Check out info on Mal de Debarquement Syndrome. Often misdiagnosed as MD. More off balance, rocking and swaying type of problems. Best of luck.

looked that up crazy i never heard of it but it doesnt say it cause ear fullness or ringing so idk crazy how many things there r but all are not studyed all that well and no cure for them really...

I also looked up the Mal de D... I went to the Vestibular Disorder Association website. There is an excellent article there about Meniere's. Worth reading for anyone second guessing.

Monnie-have any of your doctors considered migraine- associated vertigo? The tightness in your forehead plus off-balance sound like symptoms of that to me. Although most people don't realize it, migraine doesn't actually have to involve a headache. Something to consider.

And, sinus issues can be a trigger for both migraine and MD.
