Honestly I don't know but I sure hope it is!!!

In my case I had very severe attacks for many years. Ear ringing constantly and hearing almost gone. Then they ceased for a very long time. All the other symptoms...heavy head, fullness, poor balance, etc remained but vertigo ceased. Dr assumed burned out. Then vertigo was suddenly back. Since the hearing was completely gone we assumed the ear was dead but evidently it was just in remission. I think the only way to find out how much activity is left in the damaged ear is through a rotational chair test. Measures damage to the ear. Had it prior to my labyrinth surgery in November. If you've had md for a long time it might be going into remission or hopefully burning out. I pray it's the latter.

JeanAnn hits on some high points in her response. Usually Burn Out is a term used for the end of Vertigo because of destruction of the inner ear. Do you have any hearing left? If you still have a fair about of hearing you probably are in remission. I had my first bout with remission for about 3 months but still had dizziness which is expected. I now am back on full shot with drop attacks and such.

I had remission for about 10 years and 2 years ago MD returned. At first it was just T. Then the vertigo hit so I had surgery. I did not have vertigo for a full year then right after Thanksgiving it hit, but not like before. Before I usually had a warning so to say, I would start spinning slowly and was able to lie down in the dark quiet and sometimes it would fade away but most times it was a trip to the ER after about 5 hrs of everything going north and south. Now its boom all of a sudden and wham vertigo. However, the last 2 or 3 attacks have been very mild and NO north and south (turst me I'm not complaining). I have noticed that my new glasses are bothering me and I take them off when I can. My doc kind of rushed me out this past visit which was unusual for him and just said it might be burn out but we will have to wait and see. He did not think I needed further surgery at this time. Thanks all for the info.

I have to ask, what kind of glasses are you wearing. If you are wearing anything like bifocal or progressive glasses you maybe having problems with your brain making corrections. In this case that could lead to confusion and brain fog as well as dizziness type symptoms. You could experiment with reading glasses (cheep alternative) to see if the symptoms decrease, although I know this is a hassle.

OMG moonpie you are SOOO right. I have not had vertigo in 4 days and I have taken off my rx glasses AND limited my time on the computer mostly my iPad. Also I have turned off the tv as well. What a difference it has made. I wear progressive glasses but have computer glasses so I don't have to move up and down all the time. I hope this is the cause. I love to read on the ereader but not worth the vertigo. Thanks

I hear your comment on e-reader, I have had to rely on audiobooks and computer reading things to me at times. I mess around with many different scenarios and aids. Whatever works for the moment.
