my ent told me he would use this only as a last resort because it will destroy the vestibular nerve and then there is no turning back. Try anything else 2or3 times if you have to before going this route I am still getting steroid injections and taking valium 3x a day and have so far had fair to good success so I'll stick with that till it worsens or stops being effective but different things work for different people .keep researching and trying before you go to the big gun.

the valium is to calm down the vestibular nerve the DR has me prescribed 2mg 2x a day but I don't think the dose is strong enough I take one in the morn when I get up( 4.30 am)one about 11 am and one about 6 to 7 pm this seems to help somewhat but I think the dosage need to be higher. I am 6 foot tall and weigh 250 lbs .and such a small dosage has minimal affect on me. In new jersey they have made it so hard for DR.S to prescribe any kind of scheduled drug most won't because of all the paperwork involved .my ent is in phila. pa.he uses' electronic prescriptions but in new jersey they wont accept it because by law you cant prescribe scheduled drugs electronically so I have to make a visit to the office and get a hard copy script and it takes 6 to 8 weeks to get an appointment yet he can only write a 30 day supply .See what happens when the government try's to help.my next appt. is Aug. 8th I hope what I have will last till then. You know I find it kind of funny that this whole e script started so the fed can track narcotic prescription's but the dr.s are not allowed to write narcotics on it so just what is the government really tracking also my insurance considers this a maintence drug and wants to do a 90 day supply or they wont pay for it but the dr cant write a 90 day supply what a mess like I need this stress on top of all the other b.s. I gotta go through

I have been prescribed the same, 2 mg 2 times a day and like you, my first one is when I get up, (5:00) another around noon, and if I'm having a bad day another around 6 or 7. I agree, 5 mg would help so much better.

back in the day in high school (mid 70s) we used to buy valium 10 mg (blue ones) 10 for a dollar and would eat 2 or 3 before going out drinking and dancing ( not very smart in hind sight ) but I don't believe them to be as dangerous as our government has convinced the medical community they are .Any thing done in excess is bound to have consequence's but for those of us who need these meds to treat our problems should not have to go through the shit we do to get them. Come on now you explain to me how two hillbillies from bugtussel Ark. can get caught with 100 thousand dose's of a prescribed narcotic when you cant even get 100 thousand sheetrock screws at the local home depot .Could someone really make that many trips to the DR.s and the drug store I think not it really ticks me off when the druggist looks me u and down and calls the DR to verify my script when I see others in there so stoned to the bone I wouldn't give them boot in the ass sorry folks I just had to vent a little after coming from the drug store . My family doctor is the one that is prescribing me the valium, and he REALLY doesn't like to do it. I told him its the only thing that works and at 6'6" and 250 pounds, I don't think a little valium is going to hurt me. Don't even get me started on my ENT at the Shea Clinic. Dr. Shea gives every one of his Meniere's patients valium for 3 YEARS without having to come back in to see him. Unfortunately, I got to see a different ENT at the clinic and he doesn't like to prescribe valium. I agree with you, if it works to give us even somewhat of a normal life, I don't see why we should have to jump through hoops to get them.

We have to jump thru hoops because we try to be a contributing part of society. while your average dope head has all day to work on conniving his supply I don't have time for that crap I have a mortgage co. three public utilities, a cable tv co. and not to mention 2dogs and a wife counting on me to bring home a pay check. I used to be a UNION IRONWORKER making good scratch but this disease has robbed me of my career and now I am working as a building maintenance worker (janitor) for 1/3 the pay but the good part is in 520 more weeks can retire

ps my family doc won't write scripts for any thing another doc is treating I think its because she got her hand slapped cause the last time I was hospitalized I chewed out the staff neurologist cause he told my doc he thought it was all in my head like I was nuts. for 3 days they had me under observation and kept testing me for a stroke even though I told them I had Meniere's, When my regular neurologist pulled me out of there .before I could leave they started testing me for everything under the sun funny how that worked any how he hooked me up with an e.n.t. who does nothing but work with Meniere's .Young very aggressive dr who still has a passion for what he does not just get em in get em out collect a check.

I have had two gentamicin injections in the past and I REGRET it every day of my life. It destroyed my balance system in the bad ear (which is what it's meant to do) but my good side never learned to compensate. I am now forever without balance. I would not wish it on the devil himself! It is a very destructive procedure and should not be done lightly. Please make sure you do your research before allowing anyone to inject you with that stuff. I trusted my doctor and just went ahead and did it when the steroids didn't work. I strongly advise everyone against having it done. It's the sole reason for my disabling balance issues. Sorry to sound so negative, but if I can save anyone from this, I have to try. Hearing and balance are damaged FOREVER!
