Meniere's Disease Support Group

Meniere's disease is a balance disorder of the inner ear. The symptoms of Meniere's are variable; not all sufferers experience the same symptoms. However, "classic Meniere's" is considered to comprise the following four symptoms: Periodic episodes of rotary vertigo, hearing loss, tinnitus, and a sensation of fullness or pressure in one or both ears.

I woke up with a stuffy ear 11/30/2020. One vertigo episode 12/11/2020. No one mentioned meniere's disease. Had ear fullness until after 16 adjustments of "Atlas" C1-2 by chiropractor. MRI, CT scans and Cspine MRI gave no indication of issues. May 9th had a week of ear fullness and after several adjustments all was ok. June 22 ear fullness returned and has not left. Continuing with adjustments and started PT to help with neck muscles. ENT seen July 15 with steroids for 21 days given. Have lost low tone hearing. Almost done with steroids - no change. ANXIETY has gotten a hold of me and will not release its grip. Sleep is suffering. Have lost 30 pounds and husband is tired of hearing me cry. Still trying to hold a job with brain fog. Have started low salt diet and have increased fluids. ENT mentioned diuretic but nothing prescribed thus far. Having bad thoughts and actually have pulled together my own estate planning documents since I work at law firm. Can anyone give me a reason to keep going like this?

Hi ginger.
Reason to keep going is because you are needed here on earth.. We all have gone through and still is. I have bilateral hearing loss and last week it was once again confirmed. It is a long journey but one step at a time.

Hi Ginger, I am an inactive family law attorney in California. I closed my law practice when my son was about 10 years old because he and his brother have Aspergers Syndrome. I started teaching second grade. I taught for about 16 years. During that time I suffered from the kinds of symptoms you are talking about. Lots of tests, ENTs, doctors etc. Finally when I had a bad vertigo attack in December I told my primary care doctor that she needed to send me to a specialist. In June 2021 I saw the specialist for the first time. (Had to see ENT, sleep doctor, neurologist and audiologist first). I was finally diagnosed. Brain fog, pounding in my ears, loud noises are too difficult to deal with. He was giving me prednisone injections in left ear - the bad ear. The last shot seemed to help - fluid pressure must have dropped. But a few days later - bad again. Then on August 12 I lost my right ear. My world toppled. It is no fun living this way, but the best thing I can tell you it that I refuse to give up. I am learning about endolymphatic sac surgery and plan to push my doctor to move forward...these are untested waters, but the people on this site all seem to be experiencing the same kinds of road blocks. We need to join hands and push the medical world to give us their time and empathy. Hang in there Ginger and keep learning about yourself. Keep a log. Stop drinking coffee. Pay attention to how much exercise you get and how much water you drink. Remember, that you are strong, you are smart and you are loved.

Hi.
I haven't been on this site in a year because I found ways to deal with my symptoms and I've been back to being very busy with life.
I just want to say, to anybody reading this, I was also at a point where I didn't care if I died because every day was a battle. I found a way past that, got a handle on the worst of the triggers for my symptoms, and now when I'm at my worst I'm just obnoxiously paranoid of the things that can cause me to get sick again.
