I am so sorry that you are having a bad time.
I think one of the bad things about this disease is the false sense of things are going better. It seems the more hopeful we get, the harder we fall. But, at the same time, I HOPE that you start feeling better. One of the biggest things it removes from my life is my self-confidence.
Maybe your advice will help someone else.... no need for apologies.

I had that similar experience happen to me today. I've been doing all right regarding vertigo and such and then today I went to get my haircut. When the stylist washed my hair I had a nasty vertigo attack. It was a frustrating reminder that it is a chronic disease. I hope you start feeling better!!!

I have had the exact same experience. This disease does just SUCK. It is chronic, there's no cure, and management can be very difficult. As Rachel said in her post, I think we tend to go into some denial when we feel better for a while, and think we have things under control...and then BOOM! There it is again. I think we have to live with the goal of simply lessening the attacks and improving our quality of life. Regarding the use of valium and ondansetron/phenagren, I have notice the times it works for me it works great. And those are occasions when I take them the instant I feel "off", and then sit quietly with my eyes closed for 20 minutes or so until I feel stable again. The times it hasn't worked have been when I am already further into a state of dizziness, or it comes on really strongly and suddenly. Then the drugs don't have time to get into my system and do their work. I still fully believe these drugs to have improved the quality of my life significantly and I have some stashed in each room in my house so that if I get "that feeling" I don't have to move. If anyone is home, I sit down right where I'm at with my eyes tightly closed and ask them to bring my pills to me. Don't give up on these drugs! They can still be an important part of your symptom management. It's just never gonna be perfect.

P.S. you are in no way an idiot! We are all of us just struggling along and looking for answers.

Yeah it's a giant suck a thon. I absolutely agree that we think it is going to be better and it is for a while and then boom here we go again. I don't do the wild spinning and throwing up I just have to got to bed for as many hours as it takes to go away. I will try every little while to get up and see if I can stay up. My doctor always told me to get more sleep. I wish I didn't have to get it this way. To everyone having a tough day i truly hope tomorrow is better. I have to go tear down some walls now. Believe it or not the dust and even painting the ceiling haven't brought on attacks. I am thinking it is a combination of hormones, lack of sleep, flourescent lights and weather patterns that trigger mine.

Yep!!! Sucks is the best way to describe it, it just plain sucks. I take 5 mg of Valium and 4 mg of Zofran as soon as I get the "feeling" then I lay down with my puke bucket and hold on for the ride. I can't even imagine how all you all report crawling around because I CAN NOT move an inch when an attack hits me. I've tried before and I physically can't move but just the slightest movements and then it induces the vomiting even worse. I literally hold perfectly still for hours. I had an attack a few weeks back and didn't take the drugs, it was way worse then with the drugs on board, but in no way does it stop the attacks from happening, maybe just decreases the severity of it a bit.

Yeah, this all sounds so familiar. I can't move either, once the room-spinning and vomiting start. Sometimes I'm not near a toilet or trash can and if I'm not prepared for an attack I'll end up just puking right where I'm at and even laying in it. How gross is that! You know it's bad when you don't even care, because you know the slightest movement will bring on more puking and misery. One time I was riding in a car with my cousin when it hit and he pulled into a parking lot where I lay on the hot pavement and puked my guts out. He kept worrying about my shirt getting in it. I couldn't give a crap at that moment! I know ya'll relate. Thank goodness these bad ones don't strike too often!
