Meniere's Disease Support Group

Meniere's disease is a balance disorder of the inner ear. The symptoms of Meniere's are variable; not all sufferers experience the same symptoms. However, "classic Meniere's" is considered to comprise the following four symptoms: Periodic episodes of rotary vertigo, hearing loss, tinnitus, and a sensation of fullness or pressure in one or both ears.

Hi All,

Last week I discovered something I can do outside the home. I am not able to shop especially for groceries. I decided I need a new recliner chair beacuse of my poor stiff and sore neck. I managed to get into the store. The beauty of this type of shopping is that when I felt more wonky and dizzy there were tons of places to sit down. Couches, sofas, recliners and such. I managed to get through some of the store by going from chair to chair. Was fun too. You do not have to buy anything but just take in the experience. That's my tip for the day :)

Sounds like a fun day! I am glad you enjoyed it. For me, my new found freedom is my rotary walker with a fold down seat. I can go into any store with balance (sort of, at least I don't look drunk) I like the fold down seat because I can sit anywhere, even to people watch, which can be fun in its own. Here is a picture of something similar that I use. A doctor can prescribe it or you can get these at most big box stores.

Easy fold down, I got two one for home and one for in moms car.

I couldn't get around without my roller walker, I just have so little balance left, I really don't think I have any left to be honest.

After you fall a bunch of times I think I am half scared to be without it. I know I will not go anywhere by myself, I always have supervision. Sometimes I get so foggy that I do not know where I am.

Having said that tomorrow is my one day out during the week, I go to lunch with another disabled guy in the neighbor hood, we usually pull some kind of stunt on the folks at the mall or local restaurant, they can see us coming a mile away, you should see all the eye rolling we get in a day.

Hope you have a great day out! It gets old staring at the same old walls.
When we move, again, I get to get new furniture and a new mattress - I will enjoy all the shopping.
