Meniere's Disease Support Group
Meniere's disease is a balance disorder of the inner ear. The symptoms of Meniere's are variable; not all sufferers experience the same symptoms. However, "classic Meniere's" is considered to comprise the following four symptoms: Periodic episodes of rotary vertigo, hearing loss, tinnitus, and a sensation of fullness or pressure in one or both ears.
Just to give everyone a little background my husband is a Navy pilot and we are currently stationed in Newport, RI for this year. Ironically this small base has some of the best docs compared to bigger ones! We are moving in just 4 months - yikes! My husband is going back to sea duty which means he will start deploying in August. He actually was selected last year to command this squadron - his dream! Enough people know that I have Meniere's which comes with it's ups and downs along with chronic pain. Before he deploys we need to come up with a plan of how I can care for our 4 kids (15, 11, 8, and 4) if I have a bad episode etc.
We are brainstorming ideas - my family lives in Phx and we really don't know anyone where we are moving to. We are not wealthy and can't afford a live in nanny. Any ideas that anyone of you guys can think of? I think the biggest issue is driving, my husband does most of the driving. My husband has offered to leave his orders so he doesn't have to deploy and just retire in a few years but I truly whole heartedly do not want him to do that. I want to find a way he can be gone and not worry about me and the kids, besides for the normal worrying! I know I can do it but I'm always up for suggestions!

Maybe, while your husband is deployed, you could move closer to your family in AZ? Or perhaps check into some sort of help that the military may offer to a family with circumstances such as yours?? I have 2 dogs and know how hard it is when I am having bad days to try and take care of them...I couldn't even imagine 4 kids.
