Meniere's disease is a balance disorder of the inner ear. The symptoms of Meniere's are variable; not all sufferers experience the same symptoms. However, "classic Meniere's" is considered to comprise the following four symptoms: Periodic episodes of rotary vertigo, hearing loss, tinnitus, and a sensation of fullness or pressure in one or both ears.

Eye glasses

Does anyone have suggestions on how to cope with wearing eye glasses?
I find the change in vision when wearing the glasses makes my MD seem worse. So if I wear my glasses my brain has to switch to that distance and that throws off my brain and I feel worse. Any helpful hints?

This all depends on what you need your eyeglasses for,your age,and the severity of your menieres. What kind of change are you experiencing when you wear your eyeglasses? And how does it make the menieres worse? Whit exactly are you experiencing? Sorry for all the questions but I'm an optician and I can answer you better if I have all the facts. :)

yes the EXACT same thing happened to me . last month i went to an eye dr cause my vision has been getting worse with menieres some days i can hardly read !!!!!! he changed my glasses slightly and it triggered a attack!!!!! i was so sorry i changed them . some days i can read ok but other days i cant focus and it feels like my eyes are being pulled . I have to keep closing my eyes to read

Thanks Jannies, I wear eye glasses for both distance and close up.
I have several pairs of glasses, such as reading, distance and progressive lens. I find if I'm out in the community I need my progressive lens for all the distances required. So the top part of the progressive lens is for distance, then middle part is for the middle distance and the bottom part is for reading. I find my brain has a really hard time with adjusting to the progressive lens but I need them when I'm out because I can't keep switching from my reading glasses to distance glasses. At night things are a bit better with the glasses because I can just wear my distance glasses for watching TV and my brain does not have to keep switching to various distances. Hope that explains things. e

The trick with progressive lenses,whether you have menieres or not,is to wear them all the time. That gives your brain the adjustment time it needs to use them successfully. Get that and see if that helps. If not let me know. Have a great day.
