Many in the ENT profession no longer do the tubes feeling that Sac decompression has had better results. There are those that feel Sac decompression offers no better results than the placebo, this is one of the biggest debates going on in the Otolarengology field at this time. The statistics vary from source to source. My doctor feels a 70% chance for a positive result with Sac Decompression. I have seen other studies that say long term results are limited. A smaller number think they maybe tied to allergys or autoimmune disorder.

Thanks but I've tried prednisone that's not working either.
The dexamethosone shots worked in the early part of 2012 but in the recent 2weeks I've been having bad fullness with bad balance.

szafar, prednisone dose not seem to work for most people, but again a few think it helps. If the dexamethosone shots worked before, even over a shorter period of time, that is a really good thing. Lo risk proceedure, ear drumb damage can be repaired in many cases. Untill the symtoms become more frequent and or seviere this may be a good fit for you. Time will tell.

I've had very good luck w/ear tube inserstion along w/injection of dexamathosone. My Otologist did both at the same time as an office procedure. In one day, most all of my symptoms were so much bettter than they had been in months. She did say, the injections may need to be done again if symptoms return. I have enjoyed many months of no attacks.
I wish you were right that ear fullness was the cause of our MD symptoms, but after all these years with no real cure or treatment for this awful condition, we shall have to do what works best for each one of us. I have had MD since 1975/

I agree with you szafar, and my dr says that doesn't make any sense also. But, if I'm feeling really off balance/having vertigo with a lot of ear fullness, I can use Afrin, which opens my sinuses, my ear pops (sometimes quite a few times), the fullness goes away, and my balance/vertigo gets better. It's not a cure-all, but it does help.

My dr explained to me that the middle ear, which is where tubes are and where you get the ear popping feeling, it totally separate from the inner ear which controls balance and vertigo. So it can't be related. But if they are really unrelated, why does Afrin and the popping of my ears help? He has no explanation, and neither do I. But I have often thought that if I had ear tubes just like my 2 year old and my ear never got blocked, I'd feel a lot better.

Flonase nasal spray is also perscribed by some doctors, this is a steroid that takes a bit of use before it becomes effective. Many people have used this before at some time in their lives. Its that spray that smells like roses. Again, not a lot of success with MD but some say it helps.

My ENT doctor prescribed fluticasone propionate. I think it is a cheaper version of the flonase. I've been using it for 3 years. I thought it wasn't helping so I stopped using it for awhile, by the doctor's advice. The pressure change was quite noticeable so I started it again. So, I'm thankful that my doctor was one who noticed a connection between the sinuses and the symptoms of MD. I've heard of other doctors who get upset when asked about the connection.
