Definitely good for a 2nd opinion! Hopkins is one of the best! You owe it to your seld and you peace of mind to explore every avenue. I've had Meniere's for over two years and have been very aggressive...it's the only way to deal with it. Please let me know if I can help. Good luck!

If you feel in your heart that you need a second opinon for your own sanity and peace of mind I would do and I have done it. I was dx with Menieres roughly 4-5 years ago. And I have gotten many opinons and I still look at maybe some underline cause. even though I am pretty sure for myself that it is nothing else. LOL good Luck and God Bless

I would definitely go for a second opinion. Different people have differnt ideas on the same topic-menieres. I went for a second opinion but ended up going back to my original doctor.

Like the others have said, even the best doctors who ae experts in the field have differing opinions on certain aspects of MD. If you could go anywhere you wanted to, I would highly recommend The Shea Clinic in Memphis, TN.

The most important thing a new patient needs to understand about MD is that treatment (if it is going to help at all) in most cases is only helpful in the early stages.

Back when I was first diagnosed 20 years ago, there was very little treatment to help or slow the progression of MD (nothing really completely stops it). Now that there are surgeries and treatments available, mine has progressed to the point of the damamge being irreversible or repairable.

Go for that second opinion! Even if the doctor tells you the same thing your current doctor does, you will have the peace of mind that you checked. Good luck!

I was treated for 10 years for "outer ear virus" until it got pretty obvious something worse was going on.. I have been diagnosed with MD and get attacks that can last for over a month..then a month to recover. I experience numerous symptoms and generally do not remember much of what happens. My therapist..also an DR wants to see my MRI. I'm going to get it and let him have a look. Since my symptoms are viscious I also wonder if there is also something else going on. I have no doubt I have Meniere's but do not have the day to day vertigo that some or most people expereience...Does anyone else suffer this way????

Maniere's is really just a grouping of symptoms.. dizziness, fullness in the ear and ringing in the ears are the three main symptoms. and then vertigo attacks... the best way to treat is by diet and homeopathis remedies. I saw a doctor for awhile but he had no idea. I could tell he really just wanted me gone because he did not know any way of treating what I had.. My homeopthist has helped me to be symptom free as long as I am ok at he diet and good with my remedies. If you are reading this and are suffering symptoms of maniere's dizziness, ringing of the ears, etc... call a homeopthist tomorrow. they used vitamins and homeopathic remedies to treat the disease, not a pill that has twenty other side effects that will make your life more difficult than better... they will also recommend some sort of eating plan. For me it is a low carb plan called a candida diet.. there is a remedy that will stop the dizziness and end the vertigo attacks very quickly!!! You do not have to suffer with tis diagnosis..

hi monnie45 Its intesting that scootermcds homeopath put him on a candida diet Ive been on that diet for 20 years for yeast allergy but Ive still developed menieres 5 years ago.

Certain remedies work for some and not for others unfortunately. If there was a fool proof remedy for Meniere's disease, we all would not still be suffering. Reading each others experiences gives us ideas to try to help ourselves. I wish all of you the best of luck and hope we can all return to some type of normalcy !!
