Meniere's disease is a balance disorder of the inner ear. The symptoms of Meniere's are variable; not all sufferers experience the same symptoms. However, "classic Meniere's" is considered to comprise the following four symptoms: Periodic episodes of rotary vertigo, hearing loss, tinnitus, and a sensation of fullness or pressure in one or both ears.

I sometimes get a sharp stabbing sensation in my eye that goes to the back of my head. I use progressive lens and probably should give them up. I figure my eye is having problems adjusting. So much you took for granted in the past you can not do no more.

I don't have much problems looking at a computer unless I am recovering from an attack. I do, however, have to magnify the screen so that I can see. I don't know if that is old age or how my meniere's affects my vision. The other thing I can NOT do is scroll, like on facebook. It makes me so dizzy so I normally have to do the "Page Down" toggle and even then have to be carefull doing it.

I'm just like Catalinav. I can look at a page, but I have to be very careful if I try to scroll, because I feel like I'm going to fall off of my chair when the text is moving!

My very first (and many after) vertigo episode was trigger by scrolling on the computer screen.

Scrolling is a big problem for me. Also any fast movement on the TV makes me feel off balance.

Oh - good point curlergirl. I turned the brightness way way down on my computer screen and that helps. Someone on this group gave me that tip, I don't remember who :)

When we type, our vestibular system misfires information to our brains, telling our whole body that it should be moving: thus the dizziness. My scalp gets very tight which is one of the first signs that tells me to stop what I'm doing.
