Meniere's disease is a balance disorder of the inner ear. The symptoms of Meniere's are variable; not all sufferers experience the same symptoms. However, "classic Meniere's" is considered to comprise the following four symptoms: Periodic episodes of rotary vertigo, hearing loss, tinnitus, and a sensation of fullness or pressure in one or both ears.

Does cell phone affect MD?

Good morning Rose,
I do not use my cell phone much, mostly for family. But I can definitely tell a difference after a long conversation. I try to point the phone away from my ear or put it on speaker. I think it is the loud volume I need to hear what is being said, not the phone itself. I get more pressure, louder tinnitus, and that can go right into dizziness.

I agree with Rachel, the louder Tinnitus is a clue for me that I have exposed my ear to an excess of loud noise. My wife and I are enjoying the sync function on her car, this puts the phone on the speaker via Bluetooth. Makes her driving less distractive also.

Most time I put my cell phone on speaker because its better to hear. Today I got an amplify phone but its not cell phone. My cell phone has TTY but at times its still hard to hear.

On of the frustrating thing about MD is that your hearing fluctuates. At home I constantly have to adjust the volume, even on shows I see on a regular basis. This is kind of a way I gage how my hearing is doing, if it is getting worse. One other thing that is disturbing is that I can get the TV too loud and not realize it. I often can not hear the difference between loud enough and way too loud. I try to set the adjustment to where I can just start to understand it. If I can not hear it well I often switch to CC closed captioning.

This is a major frustration
