I've lost about 23 lbs in the last 13 months due to my MD. First I lost weight due to nausea and vomiting, then my stomach got messed up and I got GERD and acid reflux so eating was not easy. Not to mention the everyday struggle of trying to stay within my sodium restrictions. Eating fruit and veggies are good but when you are already too thin what can you eat? So to answer your question, yes this crazy disease has changed me in more ways than I can count and weight is just one of them!

I've lost weight too due to SERC and low sodium diet. However, I am also on weight watchers and have been at goal for 2 years and had gained a few lbs. so it was not a bad thing. I do have a hard time meeting my points each day because veggies and fruit are 0 points and things like rice are 0 sodium but higher in points. Sounds crazy but I enjoy being on the lower sodium diet. Most days I am under 1000mg of sodium each day. Stay well

yeah I've found that in addition to all the fruits I'm eating a lot more eggs (scrambled and hard boiled, no salt) and for breakfast I'm doubling up on the cereal and oatmeal (at least two bowls instead of one) and I can't seem to finish my coffee. I've been taken diotamaceous Earth (food grade) for a few years now just as a daily detox and general cleaner but I take it on days when I'm not on my meds. I've found Diotamaceous Earth is a good natural way to detox and it's safe to put in drink and foods (and I'm not trying to aimlessly promote the product, by the way) and I'm eating a lot more chicken and anything 'heavy' and I'm not dressing them up with salt or sauces or anything. I've always been a healthy eater and have always maintained a pretty good weight, but now I'm having to make conscious decisions about what I'm having to eat now because I found out the other day after eating two hot dogs for lunch that the salt just sets this disease off and I get that awful swimming head and tightness feeling that is just sickening to describe. Other than that, I'm eating a lot of rice and pasta (bland) and the above mentioned fruits, chicken and eggs, tomatoes, and whatever green vegetable my wife decides to make that day. Anyone else have a good successful meal plan?

When I have an attack of menieres I am wiped out for 1-2 weeks. During that time I tend to lose about 6-7 lbs. I am naturally a thin person so I really notice the weight loss. The 2 things that bring on an attack for me are salt and very noisy places. Most of the time I can easily limit my salt intake and when I am in a noisy place I put an ear plug in my affected ear and that really helps.

its the opposite for myself, the meds that I am on to help control my meniers is what is putting the weight on. I can remember my specialist who was trying to get my menieres under control.( the vertigo part ) said to me you are going to hate this medicine because it will make you gain weight. I laughed and said I don't care just as long as I get better and can return to work!! He was right the amtripiline has made me gain quite a bit of weight but didn't stop the vertigo.
I am unable to exercise due to the serverity of my vestibular nerve damage, if I bend over I fall over, if I look up I lose my balance if turning from the waist and twisting my body i lose my balance so I am limited to sitting in a chair and exercising my arms an legs.
my meniers is so bad i was just awarded S.S.D this month for this disability. sadly i would have been at work but just have to except that meniers is stronger then me! lol

It's ironic that I'm reading this post tonight. I understood losing weight at the beginning due to drastically changing my diet, but I just lost another 4 pounds in the last 2 weeks. Yes, I'm strict with the low sodium diet and the salt makes such a difference in my symptoms that if I can't count the salt in something...... I just don't eat it.

I've lost 30 pounds in a year (not complaining!!) but I'm just wondering if I'm done losing weight yet, because I need some new clothes! lol

I have being losing weight. Am on water pill and watch my salt intake. It is weird.

I wish it would help knock off a few pounds, but as much as I eat less during attacks, I tend to eat a lot when not having attacks as I am spending a lot of time off work and I eat. But only been on SERC 16 for 2 months so it may help me shed a few pounds as I take it for a longer period of time.
