Meniere's disease is a balance disorder of the inner ear. The symptoms of Meniere's are variable; not all sufferers experience the same symptoms. However, "classic Meniere's" is considered to comprise the following four symptoms: Periodic episodes of rotary vertigo, hearing loss, tinnitus, and a sensation of fullness or pressure in one or both ears.

3 month post op

Well this morning is my 3 month post op for Endolyphatic Sac Decompression surgery. Since the 6 week mark I've been doing pretty darn well. This past week though I have wound up in the ER twice with vision problems including eye lid drooping. The MRI showed that I have brain inflamation where the surgery site was. I don't know if anyone has ever heard of this before or if this is common. I was sick with vertiigo attacks last night and I really can barely move off the couch this morning. The appointment is 45 min away so it should be a challenge to get there. I'm hoping my hubbie can help. I guess if I'm going to feel sick it should be before an appointment instead of the day after an appointment that happened to me another time!

OH I hope you feel better . Did they say why the surgery caused the inflamation?? WHat are they gonna do for it ??? Its great though that you had six weeks of feeling ok . Dr . appointments are always the worst for me , i get an atack EVERY time i have to wait , i hate it

Well just saw doc. The 45 min drive was killer! Officially diagnosis is BPPV in my right ear this time. I am going to get the Epley maneuver today to relieve symptoms. The surgery is healing well and apparently it's normal to have inflammation in your brain from surgery. Got me! The doc did a basic Epley maneuver and I felt better almost immediately so I am hoping this is just another bump in the road! My hubbie is in the Navy and was not supposed to miss work today but did anyway since I can't drive at all! I'm hoping he won't be in too much trouble!
Anyone else get horrible headaches too? If u do what has worked? I feel like my brain is trying to jump out of my skull!!!

So sorry. Sounds like you're having a rough time. I'm glad the Epley maneuver is working for you, though. That will make a tremendous difference! I had BPPV plus Meniere's, too, and ended up having a surgery to get rid of the BPPV since the maneuver's didn't work. Totally worth the surgery to get rid of that horrible dizziness every time I moved. I had the shunt surgery, too, but no headaches. Hope you feel better very soon. Way too much going on for you.....sounds miserable. Thank goodness your husband could help.

I had the maneuver done but found out it is effecting both ears so I can't have another maneuver until tomorrow. I'm feeling slightly better but feel so wobbly. I hate this I feel like I'm not spending time with my kids - I'm just laying in bed trying not to move my head too much - puking is just so much fun ;) Its stressing my husband out too. I didn't realize there was surgery for BPPV - this is my 2nd bout of it grrr!

Hugs to u all. I just starting with all this test.. So I sure y'all be hearing me complain alot. I go get balance test done soon. Not Looking forward to it either :(

I am glad the doc said your recovering the way they expected. I am happy you are able to have the surgery. I pray with time it will give you some relief.
