I'm there with ya, there is little difference to me between being an anxiety attack and being half scared into a fever pitch. My wife and I were at the store shopping, I told her I would only be 10 minuets, when I went up front to wait for her and then tried to call and text her, I got no reply. Vertigo set in and I had to set down, about 1/2 half hour later she came to the front, I was half shaken to my core, my BP had to be to the moon. I also resorted to having her paged. As it turns out she was just giving me some extra time to browse and had her phone on silence because it is new for her and not use to the controls. I was so sick I had to go home and sleep for about 4 hours. I don't mean to come off as a jerk, we all get our wires crossed and I love my wife more I can say. Just goes to show how this MD stuff crosses the line in both anxiety and depression. It is a mess, I feel like I am getting more secluded every day, that's why you have to fight to get your life back and deal with these small issues like I had and move forward.

YES! i start to get a sleepless night a week before i go back to work after 2 and half months out for medical leaves due to MD. i have to go to see a primary doctor to prescribe anxiety generic medicine for thirty days. i am trying reduce to a half of 0.05 mg and have not take any pill a last four days until last night fullmoon. Depression and anxiety from MD. Looking for a better day and get control with anxiety issue.

@Rich, I really had no need to be scared. I was sitting in the waiting room, my head leaned back against the wall with my eyes closed because I was tired from working all day, then it felt like for a few seconds that my heart was trying to jump out of my chest. I sat straight up and instantly broke out into a sweat. I remember thinking, Lord please don't let me have an attack here. My heart kept palpitating the whole visit. My blood pressure was 153/95. It has NEVER been that high. Of course, then I started worrying MORE and by the time I made it home I was a nervous wreck. After the valium did its job, I just felt really tired and sick. I know my heart has been checked pretty good, but a part of me can't help but wonder "what if they missed something". Once again, I guess I'm more of a worrier than I ever thought. Everyone is suggesting I talk to my doctor about anxiety disorder and trying to see if that's the problem.
@olliedog, What kind of medication do you take for anxiety? I didn't think mine was due to MD, but I guess it didn't get bad until here recently so its very possible that Meniere's is causing me to panic.

Sure sounds like a panic attack; I've taken Paxil for anxiety for years now. I had constant anxiety with my heart pounding, breaking out in a cold sweat, chewing my fingernails, etc. A normal situation like asking for a refund at a department store would throw me into a fight or flee kind of panic attack! My doctor explained that for some people the serotonin in the brain does not pass from cell to cell properly and that's probably what's going on with me. Taking the Paxil literally changed my life because I'm able to function normally. Please talk to your doctor if you continue to have problems. He will probably want to rule out a medical issue first, but if it's anxiety, why suffer when you can get help? With the changes in our lives due to the disease, it's normal to have some psychological issues--even depression. Some people can get by with talking it out with a counselor and some of us, like me, need the medication. If it happens again, please get some help. Otherwise, it only gets worse.

Thanks all. Marlene, I have noticed it getting worse. Where I never used to have palpitations, now i'm starting to have them more regularly. I guess it kind of makes sense because I obsess over Meniere's and how to try to control it. As a matter of fact, I guess I obsess over a lot of things, even non Meniere's related things. I would imagine I get on my wife's nerves because I'm always talking about it and trying to figure it out. Like I said, I've always had anxiety issues but because I never talked about them most family and friends had no idea. Much like you, I hate having to return things, send food back in restaurant's, etc. I'll be sure to bring it up to my doc onmy next visit. Thanks again.

Yes! Definitely panic attacks. I haven't asked for any meds. I've just been dealing with it. For me that means continuing good eating, exercise, sleep habits and leaving my worries in my prayers.

my doctor prescribe thirty days Xanax and will need another appointment to talk about my anxiety. i have problem with sleepless night and the MD did not want to prescibe sleeping pill. It did help so far and trying not take if i do not have to and more physical excercises; take good care

I might be a bit off on this conversation, just want to relate my experience, don't know if it applies here or not. My anxiety is tied into depression. While I do get quite wound up and panicked, what happens to me is that I cease to function. It is like being totally lost and unable to come up with solutions. I have been helped greatly by taking Cymbalta for this. What a depression medicine dose for you is that it allows the electric connecters (more correctly called receptors) to function better. The transmission to the brain for many seems to be OK but the uplift of electronic response in the receptors is improved. People who have depression do not get the uplift part of it to work well enough. I hope that makes some since.

I know what u mean sometimes my heart will just start like I am havin a heart attack for no reson not stessed or nothing but I get that im also a worryer to sucks I also get the milder panic attacks to when im off balance or just stressed about my health issues and everything I have to get done...its hard sometimes for sure but we just have to fight threw it all and try hard to give our worrys to god .....

I started to have palpitations while i was on steroids. As soon as i quit them, heart returned to normal.
