Meniere's Disease Support Group

Meniere's disease is a balance disorder of the inner ear. The symptoms of Meniere's are variable; not all sufferers experience the same symptoms. However, "classic Meniere's" is considered to comprise the following four symptoms: Periodic episodes of rotary vertigo, hearing loss, tinnitus, and a sensation of fullness or pressure in one or both ears.

I HAVE POSTED THIS SEVERAL TIMES ,I CAN
NOT BELIEVE I AM THE ONLY ONE WITH THIS ,PRESSURE SO BAD IN MY BAD EAR,WENT TO 2 ENT THEY SAID NO HELP EXCEPT TO GET STUNT PUT IN TO DRAIN ,BUT I MIGHT LOSE MY HEARING,IS THERE NOTHING FOR THE PRESSURE AND RINGING ,I CAN TAKE RINGING, MY DOCTOR UPPED MY XANX SAID IT MAY HELP BUT MAKING ME LIKE SOMBIE WHAT AM I TO DO, ANY HELP,SHIRLEY

I am in the same boat as you. The Doctors can't seem to find any thing that helps the pressure, hearing loss and tinnitus. I am on a water pill and valium which makes me like a zombie too.

I take Ibuprofen cold and sinus (with pseudo ephedrine) right when the pressure starts to get bad. It doesn't make it go away but it keeps it at a much more bearable level. I still notice the pressure but it doesn't get so bad that i need to stop what I'm doing and lay down. As far as doctors are concerned they have been absolutely NO help whatsoever (to me at any rate) the only good thing that came from my doctors were my hearing aids! :P

Sorry i am in the same boat as far the pressure, benadryl I find helps a little.

Last week I was going through the same problem and after 4 days of pressure it finally released. I would suggest taking a steroid shot which could help out with the inflammation and help you release the fluid. Another option is wait till the weekend and try to induce a vertigo attack and that should clear it out. I did that a few months back by eating one of my triggers- lots of sugar.

I'm sorry, I thought I replied to you before, I feel bad. I have the same problem especially when the weather is going to change. What saves me is to take a sudafed or see if your doc will prescribe a nasal spray like nasonex. I prefer the spray because it doesn't go through the body, but stays in the sinus area. That always clears up my problem.

You should ask for the steroid shot and see how that works and have them put a t tube in which will help with some pressure.

This is one of the side effects of vertigo that doc's don't normally focus on. Which stinks because most of us get it. Before getting the shot in the ear, my doc gave me a trial of oral steriods to see if it significantly helped and it didn't so he said the shot wouldn't do much either. maybe suggest that to him or the decongestant route.

My ringing come & goes for 5-8 days. I get a tinny sound in my right ear, can't use the cell phone or my hearing aid. Then it goes away for a week or 2 and comes back. Could be the weather. I don't know. I have worn hearing aids for 15 yrs. Have always had a ringing in my ears from hearing loss but since mineres, the right ear is worse. Frontal pressure in my head comes and goes too. Hang in there...
