I use to loose sleep, when I first got MD I would wake up in the middle of the night with the room spinning out of control. I would need to lay on the floor. But I have not had that problem for a couple of years now. I do not wake up screaming. but it effects us all differently. I do sleep much better if the bed is pushed up against the wall or if I am on the couch, and who would of thought at 52 I would need a night light, but the dark throws me off a little. My poor husband. :)

i sleep better on the couch.. i guess because i have some support around me.. i find i tuck my feet into the couch coushion. for some reason i find comfort in that. my grandson has a weight blanket and i love to put it on my lap..my daughter said i must make me feel balanced. and ease the worry of falling.

I sometimes have this feeling that I am dizzy at night so I take a valum pill and knocks me out. This is something new for me and imagine could be a pain for others. They really need to figure out a long term treatment for this....just destroys your life in so many ways.

Thank you all for your responses, we all have differen things to make us comfortable. Tonight I will try sleeping on the couch which has tons of pillows on it. If I were so hot natured I would also use a heavy blanket! I agree with you szafar, they need to come up with some type of treatment for this, its a diblitating disease that changes our lives drasticly!

I am not sure if it's vertigo that wakes me, but I wake up every hour until around 2 or 3 and then sleep like a rock. However, if a weather front comes through, I will get bad spins since I'm not awake to feel the pre-sensations. I also have started taking the Xanax and I find I'm starting to not wake up every hour.

many people sleep on couches and reclyners because it gives the body more signals that you are sitting still and a bed give you support only on one side of your body.
