Meniere's Disease Support Group
Meniere's disease is a balance disorder of the inner ear. The symptoms of Meniere's are variable; not all sufferers experience the same symptoms. However, "classic Meniere's" is considered to comprise the following four symptoms: Periodic episodes of rotary vertigo, hearing loss, tinnitus, and a sensation of fullness or pressure in one or both ears.

I have to ask, I live the the dizziness and the unbalance every single day. I know its the MD, but sometimes I get severe room spinnings. They only last seconds but to me they seem a lot longer. I get scared as heck and they pass. Tonight though it lasted a little longer. I had no sense of direction the room was spinning so bad, I was fortunate to have a friend here and he brought me my meclizine. I take this only when I absolutly have to. Do you all get these attacks too? And if so how long do they last you?

I live with the same thing,I get those short spinning spells . so far they last just seconds, but like you said it seems longer ,it scares me so bad and my anxiety goes up to a 10. The daily dizziness and being off balance is terrible. The ringing in my ears drives me crazy,do you have that? My doctor said we can get used to all that .he told me ice skaters have to train there self to get used to the dizziness when they spin around. I never thought about how they bspin and must get dizzy, but so far I can nit get used to it. Hope things get better and not worse, hugs, Squarley

I think we all have our good and bad days as far as MD. Thats why I don't put thinks off for long when I feel well. The spins come and go but the MD has been with me.

yes I would think most of us get those spins. Yes they do scare the dickins out of you. When I get them it feels like I,m hurling through the air. I grab onto whoever or whatever is close by. I have trained myself to say it will pass even though it feels like forever. My eyes automatically close and i go straight to bed if I can. Getting to your meds immediateley helps as well. I keep meds with me where ever I go. I even have them on my head of the bed with water so if I get hit in the night, they are right there where I can reach them. Tell yourself it will pass and try to remain calm. Take care

Thank you all so much for responding, I just wanting to see if it was only me. So I am not going crazy! I do carry my medicines and my cell phone where ever I go, just in case I get one of these spells, I get them maybe once a week and they are only seconds, none the less they scare me alot!

I feel for you. I get completely scared and anxious when I have an episode. I am still not diagnosed yet going to get an ENG test next week. I can have some left over dizziness and balance issues afterwards but it is better. I am trying to get others to understand it so if I need help and to get my medicine or walk. I don't like relying on other people for help.
