This community is dedicated to discussing the pros and cons of Medicare, and how best to use Medicare to improve your health. Medicare is the name given to a health insurance program administered by the United States government, covering people who are either age 65 and over, or who meet other special criteria.



If you have a senior center in your town or city, or a Community Action Program, or the United Way, you can call and inquire. They will have alot more information then what we can provide here. Every state is different.

from my understanding, Medicare usually doesn't cover medical rides unless they are for emergency reasons. I'm not sure if you have any coverage under Medicaid, but if you do, Medicaid may cover medical appointment rides in some instances.
As Bob said, your best bet is probably to find out locally at your senior center or local church, as a lot of cities have charitable programs where they will drive you to appointments free of charge.
If worse come to worst, you can always use Uber or Lyft. It doesn't cost as much as a taxi. If you have a smartphone, you download their app and pay for a ride using a credit card. They will come to your chosen location to pick you up.
Before you choose a Medicare Advantage Plan be sure your doctor's and hospital accept the plan. Also verify they cover all of your medications.

If you are low income and have few resources. You might qualify for Medicaid to help with your Medicare expenses. This form of Medicaid is different than regular Medicaid or Expanded Medicaid. The requirements are also different.. A SHIP counselor can also help you with this. Medicaid with Medicare does offer free rides to and from medical appointments. Medicare Savings Program can help with your co/pays, deductibles and monthly premium. Extra Help sets your co/pays for prescription drugs at less than $4 for each generic prescription and less than $9 for each brand prescription. How much assistance you are given depends on your income. You can call your local.Medicaid office and tell them you will be eligible for Medicare in April. and you need to apply for Medicare Savings Program and Extra Help.
