As advanced as modern medicine is, there still exist many cases where doctors cannot pinpoint an exact cause for pain or other symptoms. Suffering with any illness is certainly difficult, but suffering with an illness that cannot be identified can be especially difficult...
I have been thru all kinds of testing. Docs thought that I had symptoms that matched MS. I have had MRI's of my brain, C spine and L spine. No lesions. The MS doc said I have no neurological symptoms and could do nothing for me. She released me as well as my regular neuro.
my symptoms are:
weakness in legs, most often the right leg.
foot drop
tingling in right leg and foot
myoclonus (jerking of muscles)
swallowing problems
slurred speech
visual problems (blurring and total loss in one eye)
These symptoms have most often come on when I have been ill with something else like a cold or sinus infection.
My ANA is borderline ..sometimes it is positive and other times it is negative. I have had a lyme test and it was negative.
I have had countless tests for different diseases and come back negative for all of them. I have no idea what most of the tests have even been. I am at the point where I am ready to give up the whole fight and just live with this. It is tiresome to go thru all the testing and come up with nothing. While I truly do not want MS or any other disease, I want to know what is causing these crazy symptoms.
Does anyone have an idea?
My doc is going to concentrate on my B12 deficiency. B12 deficiency can cause some of these symptoms. I have had testing all the time tho and the B12 levels are normal or high as I am taking supplements. Vitamin D has been tested also and it normal.

my 2nd is primary lateral sclerosis.
have you had an EMG???
Never had EMG. My doc is focusing on my B12 deficiency. I am planning to ask him to check for pernicious anemia as I tend to have positive ANA. Other than that I am stumped.
i think an EMG would be your best bet as far as a test goes at this time. They can detect neruopathy, myositis, abnormal muscle tone ect
it could rule out diebetese, polymyositis, movment disorders, mutlitple slcerosis ect
Hopefully the docs will figure it and get you on the road to recovery. I found the B12 supplements not to be as effective as the injections. I take the injection once a month and supplements, but the pills do upset the tummy. I still have neuropathy but its secondary to trauma and causes numbness and sometimes a jerkiness but not constant. I hope you doctor will further investigate.
