This community is dedicated to the pros and cons of Medicaid, and how to best take advantage of Medicaid to improve one's health. Medicaid is the US health insurance program for individuals and families with low incomes and resources. It is jointly funded by the states and federal government, and is managed by the states.
For anyone who lives on Louisiana- Are you having problems finding care through Bayou Health (Louisiana Medicaid) ?
For example, you choose a pcp and/or specialist that the Plan has listed and tells you over the phone they are listed. But when you go to make a appointment, the drs office tell you they do not accept medicaid or they only accept medicaid if you're Dual Eligible (Medicare and Medicaid) (Dual Eligibles Do Not have to enroll in Bayou Health as of 2013)
Or you have problems getting a referral from your pcp or having x-rays, labs done.
The three Pre-Paid Plans are Amerigroup Real Solutions, LaCare, Louisiana Healthcare Connections.
The two Shared Saving Plans are Community Healthcare Solutions, United Healthcare.

My partner is having the same trouble. Even after going to the medicare/ medicaid website to get a list of doctors to see. When my partner called them up they only take medicare and my partner can't afford a co-pay.

steph, if your partner has Medicare and Medicaid, there should not be a problem. Because if you have have Medicare & Medicaid, the rules are not the same as if you only have Medicaid. Someone who has Medicare & Medicaid isn't part of BayouHealth.
