Hello again!


I posted a while ago and wanted to update everyone on my throat, it is the most bothersome sysmptom for me.  I went to an ear nose and throat specialist in July, she put a tube down my throat and said all good up to the vocal cords go see a gastroenterologist.  I went to see her today, she will do the same but down to my stomach.  She says it sounds more like Sjogrens than like acid reflux.  Anyone here have it in addition to mctd?  I also saw my rheumy a couple of weeks ago, I also saw her in August.  My mother in law was diagnosed with lung cancer at the beginning of July and passed away at the end of July.  Her wish was to be burried overseas and I wasn't sure if I could even travel but there was no issues, and while I was there I felt great!! We were there just over two weeks and in all honesty even with everything that was going on I don't remember the last time I felt that good.  But on the plane on the way back it all started again.  The throat pain, the muscle pain, the ears were so painful that I kept my head down on the tray the entire ride.  I've never had a worse experience on a plane.  I'm back to being anemic so I'm now back to eating calf liver.

Well, I had a major computer malfunction and havent been on in awhile, but I finally got that fixed. I swear, the first half of your post sounds like you stole it from me! I did the same thing with the scope of the sinuses and throat and then the GI dr. My problem turned out to be severe allergies as well as reflux. I was already getting treated for both but they upped the meds. I hope you get yours straightened out.

Lately I have had alot of problems relating to my "throat". Heartburn, sinuses, nausea, feeling full, loss appetite, trouble swallowing ocxasionally... I imagine I should see a doc soon. For now trying to eat a strict anti inflammatory diet and rest. Wishing you well!

I have some Sjogrens symptoms but no lab work to support the diagnosis. The Dr says it may be secondary sjogrens, symptoms caused by the MCTD.

Sorry to hear about the throat pain, Jen. With me, when I have throat pain it's the result of a reflux episode and it passes within a day or two at most. The dysphagia can be really annoying, it builds up to peak periods when I start to get worried about it, and then mysteriously backs off. Was tentatively dx'd with Sjogrens in the late '90s, but doesn't bother me too much now.

I'm glad you had a good trip! Hope your doctor provides you with some medication for rescue if you travel again so you won't get sick on the plane. Man, I hate being on an 8-or-12 hour flight when my leg is bothering me (from old blood clot) and this sounds like it was much worse! Hang in there, and hope you had a good holiday.
