MT, I gotta say, it just doesn't sound that dull where you live! You keep saying that news is slow... but jacking up the house, the lightning bug thing... it's great when life is full of offbeat adventures! Sorry you are sore and not having much luck getting off the Medrol.
Dallas, hang in there... some days, you just have to take that extra dose, I haven't had a double dose day in a long time, but I remember them... I've been able to skip more days, so I am lucky.
After job hunting on Wednesday, I did get down to the beach at 5:30 or so... the water looked glassy from the parking lot... but then, when I got to the high water mark, it looked like I was in Hawaii. Incredible green barrels of surf breaking north to south, about three to four feet high, best conditions I've ever seen. I got at least a dozen rides, shot the curl twice, which I've never done before... these were incredible, 15-second rides.
Towards the end, the surf deteriorated... and I got tired very, very quickly from walking/paddling out again and again and diving under four foot waves. I went as deep as I could for as long as I could, but I got rolled once pretty bad, caught one last wave and got out.
Well, yesterday I barely got out of bed-- though I did get a lot of job-hunting done! Man, was I sore, and zero energy, nada, nothing. Combination of sun, exercise, and pollution, probably. When I walked the dog, my neighbor actually stopped me and asked me if I was all right. Finally at 5:00 I got myself to the bank, had some pain meds at 8:00, and then was able to shop and cook dinner.
Exercise is good for the soul, but it sure can be hard on the body! I seem to have recovered today... I can understand that weight work would make me sore, but I think swimming every day is probably too much. Melissa, do you get sore just from aerobic exercise as well? I've only been taking one or two days off...
Best,
