MCTD Support Group
Mixed connective tissue disease (MCTD) or Sharp's syndrome is a human autoimmune disease in which the immune system attacks the body. MCTD combines features of polymyositis, systemic lupus erythematosus, and systemic scleroderma and is thus considered an overlap syndrome. MCTD commonly causes joint pain/swelling, Raynaud phenomenon, muscle inflammation, and scarring of...
Well I am finally over my cold. Cat, glad that work is starting to be better - foot/leg pain aside. We are supposed to get an "arctic blast" this weekend, temperatures in the low 20's. (pretty cold for us here in Washington.) Maybe even snow. It would be nice to have a white christmas--usually only happens once every 5 years or so. We usually celebrate a wet christmas. Not as much fun....
Wishing everyone less pain during the holiday season.

I am soooo tired, i feel i could sleep for a week. \it seems like the phone never stops ringing, all its always someone wanting me to do something for them. I feel i am going to go crazy is one more person needs a favour.
My mum has been in hospital all week with pneumonia, and i've been going everyday apart fro yesterday. She is doing alright. When i rang this morning she said she had a list of things she needs for me to get .....it took all my strength yo stay calm.If anyone has any ideas for stress and fatigue i would be gratefu...for now i'm going to curl up on the sofa and go for a nap.
Hugs
Just wanted to say hello. Oddman, we will be sharing the "artic blast" with you. We are supposed to start it off with 70 mph winds this evening, with the foothills getting up to 100 mph!!! Thank Goodness we haven't decorated outside yet. They are saying the winds are the kind that will do damage and to bring everything inside. I'm worried about our fence and roofing tiles. Not only that, but we have huge trees with large branches that hang down onto our deck covering, etc. Oh, well, nothing I can do about it right now, lol. Our day-time temperatures are supposed to dip down to low 30's and stay that way until at least Wednesday, with snow off and on too. Well, I guess winter has finally arrived, lol. My body is objecting, let me tell ya!
I am also tapering the Prednisone again. I cheated and didn't do my taper for November because of Thanksgiving, but figured I had better not let it slide for December too. I am suffering so far, so if it doesn't let up soon, I'll probably go back up so I can at least enjoy Christmas, lol!!
I've just been feeling sooo lousy, lots of pain, sleepy all the time, and just generally not myself. I know this is a support board, but I feel bad complaining all of the time, lol.
Anyway, looks like Sadie may have to go to the vet today. I just looked at her paw, because she kept licking it, and it is bloody on the top. I looked at it closer, wiped it, and it looks like maybe she has a growth or something. If it isn't one thing it is another!! So, when hubby gets here for lunch he will look at it and may take her to the vet.
Okay, I've written more than I had planned. Thanks for reading!! I hope everyone has a low-pain day, happy Friday!
Hugs!

Finally taking a day off to clean house, I had forgotten how exhausting this is. I turned down the last two jobs at work-- I have to get the house cleaned up and had to make a dozen phone calls to set up things for grad school.
I don't know how I am going to do all this. Polar, you said it very well-- I feel guilty about complaining so much on a support group!
Physically, my leg is MUCH better being out of that damn chair for a day. Of course, my back is killing me from vacuuming, and there's plenty more to be done...
Yes, Oddman and Dallas, it should be cold here, too. Washed the cars before it gets too cold to do so... also will be lending the CRX to a friend for the weekend, and it was really getting gross, old coffee cups, all kinds of junk...
And speaking of friends, Jaqui, I know EXACTLY what you mean about friends asking for favors. My friend in New York wanted to come out for his 50th birthday, and I really couldn't say no-- I mean, he's taken me out at least a dozen times on his sailboat, many trips to Nantucket, and as you know, I get very lonely here and it would be crazy for me to turn him down.
But WHY NOW?! Why during the holidays? Why right before school and after these huge jobs have completely worn me out?
As for stress reducing techniques, why not just take some mescaline and go for a nice drive in the...
Oh, no-- wait a minute. I'm sorry, that was one of my TERRIBLE ideas. How about this-- call up a friend or family member who is driving you crazy, say something you will regret later, and then smash the cordless phone, and then...
No, sorry, that's another terrible idea. Ah! I've got it! Why not call up your credit card company/mortgage broker and initiate some complicated transaction you don't really understand, and then...
Ah, well. I seem to be full of terrible ideas! But I certainly sympathize with the asking too many favors thing. And I am so sorry your mother has pneumonia and is being so demanding... another situation I am very familiar with. There have been numerous times I wanted to start screaming at my wife/boss/friend... even my dog... and say, "I can't do all this sh*t! I am not well! Don't even ask me! Part of my left foot still looks like hamburger! And you can see it because I still can't wear shoes and socks! What is wrong with you?!"
I think it is a common problem.
However... Z read your post, and he said that he feels that taking a nap is a FINE idea. In fact, he's got a head start on me... I feel myself dozing off right now...
